THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF BLOOD – Old Testament Sacrifices Leviticus 1-3 begins the third book of the bible with graphic details of God’s system of animal sacrifice. From our modern perspective, reading it paints a pretty gruesome picture of priests stabbing animals in the throat, breaking birds’ necks, skinning dead animals, ripping and tearing their bodies apart, and then splashing the blood on an altar. By today’s standards it almost sounds like a slasher flick. It even reminds me of some type of voodoo or witchcraft ritual.
