THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF BLOOD – Old Testament Sacrifices 2. ANCIENT HEALTH TIPS – God M.D. 3. LINE UP YOUR DEMONS 4. JESUS – AN EXAMPLE OF PRAYER 5. JESUS WAS BADDER THAN MIKE 1. THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF BLOOD – Old Testament Sacrifices Leviticus 1-3 begins the third book of the bible with graphic details of God’s system of animal sacrifice. From our modern perspective, reading it paints a pretty gruesome picture of priests stabbing animals in the throat, breaking birds’ necks, skinning dead animals, ripping and tearing their bodies apart, and then splashing the blood on an altar. By today’s standards it almost sounds like a slasher flick. It even reminds me of some type of voodoo or witchcraft ritual. Add Comment Day 40 of the Bible in a Year - My Thoughts 02/09/2010
![]() 40 days down, 325 to go. Today’s scriptures for my Read the Bible in a Year plan are Exodus 29:1 – 30:10; Matthew 26:14-46; Psalms 31:9-18; Proverbs 8:14-26. Ok I know I got out of order with Psalms. Yesterday’s Psalms was supposed to be for today and today’s was supposed to be for yesterday. Sorry about that....but I’m sure you can follow. 1. HOW TO OVERCOME TEMPTATION – BE ALERT & PRAY 2. ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE NOT SO HAPPY PSALMS 3. THE BIRTH OF WISDOM 1. HOW TO OVERCOME TEMPTATION – BE ALERT & PRAY In Mathew 26:14-46, the reality of His impending crucifixion is weighing heavy on Jesus. He knows that very soon, He will have to endure a horrible and excruciating death. In fact, if you do a quick word study, or if you know any Latin at all, you’ll discover that the word “excruciating” means “out of (ex) the cross (crux)”. The fact is that the pain endured during a crucifixion was so severe, that a new word was created to describe it – excruciating. Day 34 of the Bible in a Year - My Thoughts 02/03/2010
![]() 34 days down, 331 to go. Today’s scriptures for my Read the Bible in a Year plan are Exodus 17:7 – Exodus 19:25; Matthew 22:34 – 23:39; Psalms 28:1-9; Proverbs 6:27-35. Ok....just a few quick thoughts today. I'm tired. See what happens when I do this at night instead of the morning. 1. NOW THROW YO HANDS IN THE AIR AND..... 2. PRAYER IS SERIOUS BUSINESS 3. JESUS – NOT A FAN OF TITLES FOR MEN 4. NO WONDER THE PHARISEES HATED JESUS 1. NOW THROW YO HANDS IN THE AIR AND..... You now how it goes.... “Now throw yo hands in the air...and wave 'em like ya just don't care...” In Exodus 17:8-14, the Israelites have gotten into their first beef since they left Egypt – a battle with the Amalekites. While they are fighting, Moses goes up to a hilltop to lift his hands to God, presumable a form of worship. Now like we all know, you just can't keep your hands raised up for more than a few minutes before your shoulders really start hurting. I don't know what kind of shape Moses was in, but at | Robert Taylor I've been with SLW since late 1999, and I've been through my spiritual ups and downs. Come see. On this blog I'll just share my thoughts on some issues from time to time, trying not to ramble too much and to make it worth your read all at the same time. Wish me luck.
